Ad Campaign
This united Ad Campaign, a collaborative effort between the Ad Council and Missing Murdered Indigenous Women, aims to raise awareness and support for the urgent issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women. The poignant image featured in the campaign showcases a woman from the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation, who is connected to the heart-wrenching reality of having a missing sister for the past four years.
The campaign encompasses a diverse range of advertising mediums, including a Magazine Ad, Billboard Ad, Online ad for Pandora/Instagram, and an animated banner. Each medium is strategically chosen to reach and engage a wide audience.
Photographer Katie Anderson skillfully captures the essence of the subject, evoking empathy and drawing attention to the urgent matter at hand. Through this united Ad Campaign, the Ad Council and Missing Murdered Indigenous Women seek to spark dialogue, encourage action, and bring justice to the countless missing and murdered Indigenous women in our society.
The Magazine Mock Up contains my work on the left featuring Caroline Garcia of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe paired with an image of a real publication on the right from National Indigenous Women's Recourse Center; https://www.niwrc.org/. This publication is to help Indigenous Women fight violence.
The Ad Campaign, a collaboration between the Ad Council and Missing Murdered Indigenous Women, carries a powerful symbol and message. The iconic red hand representing MMIW has been ingeniously replaced with a zipper, symbolizing the longstanding silence surrounding missing Indigenous women. The campaign's slogan, "Silent Sisters No More," reinforces the pivotal moment where this silence is shattered. Thoughtfully designed assets progress from a full face to only showing the mouth, emphasizing liberation from silence. The retained red hand logo symbolizes solidarity and action. The color scheme blends MMIW's recognizable palette with greyscale tones for emotional impact, while the DarkMode type family adds a contemporary touch. The campaign aims to draw attention to silenced voices, urging society to acknowledge, support, and pursue justice and healing for affected communities.
